Day Tour
Uxmal Archaeological Site
Uxmal is one of the most important Mayan cities in the state of Yucatan, Mexico. I had the opportunity to visit this amazing archaeological site while I was visiting the city of Merida. It is only one hour ride away on a 62 kilometres highway with no tolls, so I took advantage of this to make a day tour.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Chichen Itza or even visited, but let me tell you that Uxmal will blow your mind away, maybe even more so. Uxmal was founded around the year 500 in the Puuc region and it is considered as the most representative Mayan city of this dominant architectural style.
I was instantly captivated by all the detailed facades. The great preservation of all the buildings lets you see the city almost exactly as how it was when it rose. The Governor’s Palace and the Magician Pyramid are simply astonishing. The area is very wide, it is a very nice place to have a conscious walk and take pictures, which I couldn’t stop doing, so here I share with you my favourites:
