My first experience drinking Tequila
This entry is part of a compilation of invited writers to my blog: Friendly Touring
As I am a recent bride, my husband wanted to give me the best experience for me to know the roots and musts of the Mexican culture. Since I am American and he is Mexican, he made a list of all the food, places, drinks, and travel experiences that he wanted to show me.
After weeks of tasting together with the best food like tacos al pastor, quesadillas, pozole, seafood, steak, chicken, turkey, pork, and Chiles en Nogada. I asked him to buy me a bottle of the best tequila in Mexico, as I knew tequila was the country’s most iconic drink.
That is why my husband had the idea to take me to the best tequila experience in the whole country. Then when we found Jose Cuervo tequila tour, and I knew that this was the experience chosen for us. I was impressed that I had never drunk tequila before, so my emotion was on top.
To begin the Jose Cuervo Tour we arrived at the Guadalajara Station at 09:00 in the morning on Saturday, to board the Jose Cuervo Express®. This train experience took us to Tequila, a Pueblo Mágico where this famous drink was born.
On the train, a Maestro Tequilero gave us a tasting, with Mexican snacks and cocktails prepared with tequila Tradicional® and Jose Cuervo® Especial. I knew this was the beginning of an unforgettable day.
My husband and I were delighted by the tequila flavor, and we genuinely enjoyed this tasting, anxious about what we were going to do next. At 11:00, we arrived at Tequila, an enchanting town where the Jose Cuervo® “La Rojeña®” Distillery is located, this is the oldest distillery in Latin America, where the famous drink is made. Also, we had a little free time to visit the shops and buy tequila related souvenirs, to remember this awesome trip. Later, we relaxed at Margaritas Bar, with a delicious orange Margarita prepared with tequila.
Soon after that, we had free time to enjoy Tequila, a beautiful town discovered in 1530, and officially classed as a Village in 1824. The name comes from the Nahuatl word Tequilan or Tequilan;, meaning a place of work or a place of cutting. It is labeled as Pueblo Mágico, because of his natural beauty, historical relevance, and cultural riches.
Once our free time finished and we took a lot of photographs for our family album, the tour experience continued with a Mexican Show, with typical music, food, and entertainment, where we had a very good time along with all our fellow passengers, who also seemed to enjoy a lot this truly Mexican experience.
Without a doubt, after this journey, I can assure that I found in the tequila a drink with much better flavor than whiskey.
After a satisfying, entertaining, and delicious day, we boarded the express wagon to return to Guadalajara Station. In the road, the Maestro Tequilero gave us one final professional tequila tasting,
A day I will never forget at Mundo Cuervo.
